About

I’m a copywriter and educator based in New York. My work focuses on food and plants, and it’s an honor to lead people of all ages through gardens and kitchens, where they can develop a myriad of skills. From tiny hands clumsily separating egg yolks to adults touching reinvigorated soil, there’s so much to gain in the most basic practices: tending to our land, ourselves and each other.

I began teaching literacy in both English and Spanish over a decade ago. Working with children in formal classroom settings at Ross, Hayground, Richmond College Prep and J. Spencer Smith Schools—as well as with incarcerated women to facilitate writing workshops at Westchester’s Department of Corrections—allows me to mentor students in self-expression and storytelling. As a copywriter I help donor-reliant nonprofits appeal to the generosity of their communities, and I write journalistic pieces about food waste and recovery.

After assisting in the launch of Dan Barber’s flavor-first seed breeding company, I pivoted to fieldwork. I’ve farmed vegetables, livestock and aquaculture on both coasts, in rural and urban settings—then scraped that food off plates into restaurant trash cans. Between hospitality and agriculture, I live in relationship with food from seed to plate.

These experiences breathe life into my writing and teaching. Now, I help food and wellness brands explore who they are and why they matter to tell their most compelling stories. I write and translate works for culinary magazines that look at food through a critical—and hopeful—lens. I develop and teach food-focused curriculum to anyone from undergraduates at New York University to toddlers through Tiny, an education service that merges academic skills with functional play to help little ones establish lifelong relationships with food, nature and all living things. I’m committed to working with others to build a better food system; one that offers nutrition, care and reverence for all.
